DoPT issues show cause notice to Alapan Bandyopadhyay Mamata banerjee appointed Chief Advisor

New Delhi / Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Secretary Alapan Bandyopadhyay was supposed to report at 10 am today (March 31) in the North Block in Delhi, but he did not come. According to information received from sources, the central government has issued a show cause notice to them. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has appointed IAS Alapan as the Chief Advisor. With this, Bengal Home Secretary HK Dwivedi has been made the new Chief Secretary.

Tenure will be for 3 years

IAS Alapan Bandyopadhyay will have a tenure of three years as the Chief Advisor to the Chief Minister. During this, they will be given a salary of 2.5 lakh rupees a month. On this case, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that the state government received a letter from the central government asking Chief Secretary Alapan Bandyopadhyay to report to the DoPT, North Block. I am shocked to receive this letter. We had written a letter to them that they could not take a unilateral decision. CS Alapan is the most senior bureaucrat in the government. This is shameful and has never happened in history.

Center accused of harassing bureaucrats

Mamta said, no reason has been given in the letter sent by the Center. On May 10, I wrote a letter to the PM requesting to extend the tenure of the Chief Secretary for three years to fight the epidemic and cyclone for the benefit of the people. Then, the central government replied that the proposal for expansion has been approved. Why was Delhi suddenly called after this? He accused the Center of harassing bureaucrats. Mamta said, because Alapan’s service ends today i.e. on May 31, therefore, his services may not be capable of deputation to the center.

Bengal needs Alapan’s service

Mamta said that it is a shame now. This is not justice. He asked the Center to explain the reasons why he is calling CS for Delhi. Mamta described it as an act of vengeance. Mamta said, ‘I appeal to all opposition IPS that please stay together and fight. This fight is not about Alapan alone, it is for all the bureaucrats. No one can give such an order, I cannot accept all this. Mamta said, ‘Bengal needs Alapan’s service, so he is being made the Chief Advisor. I respect the former Chief Secretary as a good person. Alapan will get the badge of the chief secretary.

Everything was well planned

Mamta said, how can the central government suddenly call the top bureaucrat of the state without discussing it with such a state. One day they will have to repent. This has not happened in the last 74 years, which is happening today. Mamta said that we are not afraid, we are ready to die. Mamta said, ‘Political people do walkouts but bureaucrats never do walkouts, it was all well planned’.
