A lecturer in Government Polytechnic School, Bhawanipatna was arrested by Vigilance Directorate in a case of disproportionate property value about Rs 1,56,00,567.
As per the official launch by Directorate of Vigilance, Odisha, on the allegation of acquisition of property disproportionate to the identified sources of revenue by Surya Narayan Ray, Lecturer in Government Polytechnic School, Bhawanipatna, simultaneous home searches had been carried out by the group of Rourkela Vigilance Division on July 20, 2021, after search warrants had been issued by the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Sambalpur.
Three double-storeyed buildings, one RCC roof constructing and eight plots in Jharsuguda city, 1 four-wheeler, 1 two-wheeler, financial institution and Postal deposits value over Rs 30 lakh, insurance coverage deposits value over 41 lakh, money and different movable and immovable properties, all totaling over Rs 1.56 crore have been unearthed throughout the home search.
After an intensive search, stock and additional enquiry, the revenue, expenditure and property of Surya Narayan Ray, Lecturer had been calculated and he was present in possession of property disproportionate to the identified sources of revenue to the tune of Rs 1,56,00,567 which constitutes 110 p.c of his identified sources of revenue, learn the discharge.
As Surya Narayan Ray was present in possession of disproportionate property, which he couldn’t account for satisfactorily, the Police Station of Rourkela Vigilance registered a case in opposition to Surya Narayan Ray below sections 13(2) learn with 13 (1) (b) Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.
In course of the investigation, at this time, Surya Narayan Ray has been arrested and forwarded to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Sambalpur.
