Italy has banned giant cruise ships from crusing into Venice (File).

Venice averted being named a world heritage website at risk by UNESCO on Thursday, simply weeks after Italy moved to ban giant cruise ships from crusing into the town centre.

The World Heritage Committee assembly in Fuzhou, China, cited Italy’s ban, which begins on August 1, and gave Italian authorities till subsequent December to report again on efforts to protect the town’s ecosystem and heritage.
