Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani Thursday conveyed his condolences to the household and pals of killed Reuters photojournalist Danish Siddiqui on cellphone.
Mr Siddiqui, the Chief Photographer for Reuters in India, was killed in violence in Kandahar’s Spin Boldak district.
“This afternoon, President Ashraf Ghani known as Professor Siddiqui, father of Reuters journalist Danish Siddiqui, and conveyed his condolences over the dying of his son to his household, pals, and colleagues. The President termed his dying as an awesome loss for the journalism fraternity ,” mentioned Aziz Amin, Special Secretary to President Ghani.
Last week, Ashraf Ghani had expressed grief over the dying of Danish Siddiqui, who was killed masking the Taliban atrocities within the war-torn nation.
“I’m deeply saddened by the stunning studies that Reuters Photojournalist Danish Siddiqui was killed whereas masking the Taliban atrocities in Kandahar,” he had mentioned.
“While I prolong my heartfelt condolences to Danish Sidiqqui’s household and in addition to our media household, I reiterate my authorities’s unwavering dedication to freedom of speech and safety of free media and journalists,” President Ghani had added.
India had raised the killing of the journalist on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
“We condemned the killing of Indian photojournalist Danish Siddiqui whereas he was on a reporting project in Kandahar in Afghanistan. I prolong our sincerest condolences to his bereaved household,” Foreign Secretary Harsh Shringla had mentioned in New York final week.
