Anger as former MasterChef judge George Calombaris returns to Channel Ten on The Masked Singer – with outraged followers insisting he did not deserve a comeback after being caught underpaying workers


On Tuesday’s episode of The Masked Singer Australia, George Calombaris was unmasked as The Duster. 

It marked the former MasterChef judge’s return to Channel Ten after his exist from the cooking present over a pay dispute. 

But not everybody was blissful to see him, with many followers of the present posting their ideas on social media.

Several complained that the prepare dinner should not have been provided a comeback after he was fined $200,000 for underpaying 515 workers between 2011 and 2017.

One particular person Tweeted: ‘Pfft George Calombaris would not deserve to be again on our TVs’. 

Another wrote:  ‘Noooooooo sorry George Colombaris Too SOON sorry we’ve got NOT forgotten or forgiven possibly attempt repute rehab on the ABC.’

Someone else Tweeted: ‘I hope George did not receives a commission for this look… little bit of a double commonplace in any other case’,

Yet yet another mentioned: ‘Shame on you @Channel10AU for bringing George Calombaris again to TV on The Masked Singer.

‘Way to sprinkle salt into the injuries of hospitality workers, particularly throughout NSW and VIC lockdowns.’

In 2019, the chef made headlines after he was discovered to have underpaid his restaurant workers by practically $8 million.

He was fined for underpaying 515 workers between 2011 and 2017 and may have his enterprise audited for the subsequent three years.  

He was additionally axed alongside veteran MasterChef co-judges Gary Mehigan and Matt Preston amid the controversy and a pay dispute. 

‘Despite months of negotiations, Ten has not been in a position to attain a business settlement that was passable to Matt, Gary and George,’ Ten’s CEO Paul Anderson mentioned in an announcement in July 2019.
