Cristiano Ronaldo has reached one other landmark in his storied profession after being named within the beginning line-up to face Young Boys within the champions League on Tuesday night.

It marked Ronaldo’s 177th Champions League appearance – equalling the record held by Real Madrid legend Casillas. 

With Casillas retired the Portugal captain is certain to interrupt the record within the coming weeks.

He already stands clear for probably the most targets scored within the match with 134, 14 greater than Lionel Messi. 

Messi is fourth on the listing of all-time Champions league appearances with 149, 28 shy of Ronaldo.
