The crime department of Mumbai police has arrested two individuals from Ghatkopar in Mumbai and seized from them 495 cellphones, collectively valued at Rs 70 lakh, which had been allegedly looted in Karnataka, an official stated on Wednesday.
The arrested accused have been recognized as Ritesh Omprakash Kesare and Vijay Rajendra Shetty, he stated.
“The duo was arrested by unit seven of the crime department after they reached the town for delivering the consignment in a tempo. Police discovered that 495 cellphones have been saved in 25 huge packing containers,” he added.
During the probe, it got here to mild that these cellphones had been looted from a truck by seven to eight robbers on Kolar-Bengaluru freeway in Karnataka final month, the official stated.
“The worth of those telephones is round Rs 70 lakh. The crime department will contact Karnataka police handy over the cellphones that have been recovered from the accused,” he stated, including that additional investigation was underway.
